delsins reissue arm once again looks to the revered back catalogue of lost trax for a second 12 that picks out the best of the anonymous collectives work. the ep features five cuts taken from two highly sought after eps released on tabernacle records in 2011 and 2012. the eye opens things up with punchy drum programming and the sort of sci-fi effects and synths that immediately take you to a future intergalactic world. its a weighty but emotional opener, while pulp is more twisted and urgent, with warped synth sounds and busy, bristling drums and perc all building pressure throughout. the forest resets the mood with mystic synths and mysterious atmospheres that mix ambient beauty with suggestive skeletal beats. b01 then canes through the cosmos on a detroit electro tip with slithers of synth, swollen pads and crisp hits and dominion rounds things out in hurried fashion. the restless electro drums pound away as prickly snares and cymbals, blurts of machine noise and sweeping pads all wrestle for attention and keep you on your toes. this is high octane electro and techno designed with metallic precision but oozing plenty of human feelings.

leonardo returns with another 4 track ep on his etheric imprint. the voyage ep shows a diverse selection of tracks ranging from peak time to downtempo. the offering delivers energy through solid punchy drums and simple but intense percussion with the main synth bringing a head turning edge. symmetry has a late night feeling to it fusing primitive and hardcore elements over a broken beat structure to create a unique elevating gem. spooky deep tech track the afterlife is dubby work out with haunting vocal samples and trippy synth hooks while droplets completes the ep off in a downtempo vibe incorporating the same edgy raw feeling of many of his previous productions.

the chicago vinyl series continues to act as a vessel for ever more essential club tackle from the one and only tyree cooper. on this occasion he s collaborating with celebrated vocalist isis and the legendary adonis for this absolutely storming tribute to the heritage of chicago house music. the original passin thru the house is a consummate jack track, shouting out all the right names and letting the 707 fills rip through the groove. tyree then offers up three alternate mixes of the track, from the bugging vocal mix to the uplifting melodious form of the vocal soul remix. there s an instrumental version tacked on if you need it, but its all about isis killer vocal on this 12inch

back in august 2017, jerome derradji received a call by one of chicagos most renowned record dealer. it went like this: hey jerome, ive got all these reel to reel tapes of chicago house stuff. you want to take a look? less than 24 hours later, more than 160 reels were purchased and safely hauled back to the still music office and jerome got to work. in fact, these reels - that were lost for more than 20 years - contain some incredible stuff that well be releasing in the years to come but right now it’s time to jack!

brother and sister eric and arrontette mcclinton had been recording for many years. around 1976 they did a 45 release together on honey records called -where you are- under the their christian names, although eric was spelled eryke! the single didn’t have much success but both brother and sister still went on to be amazing backing singers working for legendary producers mike theodore and dennis coffey. whilst they were under the watchful eye of the production team they recorded some material again and a duo for theo/coff in a bid to get them another record deal and show their capabilities. these songs never got releases. eric became and prolific song writer and also joined the group high fashion. we are super pleased to finally release the shelved songs from 1978. this in one of two releases by the duo.

john talabot and axel boman teamed up in 2017 for their r&s debut the night land where they got to flex their creative muscles over eight tracks of rich synth jams. the two electronic artists have been independently successful in their respective careers, but as pitchfork expressed in their glowing review their collective output doesn’t sound much like eithers work, it doesnt even necessarily reflect the thin, convex sliver where their interests overlap. instead, theyve hit upon something new. this new sound also proved to be a hit with the likes of mojo, phonica, xlr8r, self titled and dj mag all including it their annual best of lists. the artists have now handpicked four artists to create their own vision of the talaboman sound. superpitcher, samo dj and luke slater under his l.b. dub corp alias have all seriously delivered the goods.

dino lenny returns with a new dark dancefloor drop, ready to cause a stir after a string of on-point release over the last year on the likes of innervisions, diynamic, ellum and sapiens. title track techno is dead lands on his own fine human imprint and takes a play from people sentencing the end of a style, but the truth is the floors are having it like no tomorrow. sonic wise, its a 8 minute slice of driving, shadowy, electronic sound, with rumbling 4/4 beats and warehouse ready builds working in tandem for a truly standout piece of finely balanced sound, that will no doubt light up the clubs. following up is go down to mexico, with an array of off kilter stabs and trippy vocal elements solidifying dino s dexterous production style. expect to hear these across the clubs in the coming months.

in a short space of time prodigious dutch producer pascal benjamin has built up a catalogue of ear-snagging minimal house confections for labels like welt, norse projekt, algorhythmic and botanic minds. now hes hitting the big time with this 12inch on the mighty slapfunk, and hes packing just the kind of chunky, swinging but ultimately lean jams they love. out of line keeps things focused on the drums, with just some sub bass and microscopic threads of sonic matter in between. to goodto be who? is equally stripped down, but decidedly more wriggly in its make up, and then finest hour kicks off the b-side with some fatter beats and a more prominent bass line. lagrange point finishes the ep off with some subliminal bleeps and tones pinging in between the wafer thin percussive pulses.

dmt aka dorian paic, markus fix and tobi neumann dig a little deeper on their next offering. -ride- does exactly what it says on the tin, taking you on a nine-minute journey that starts with an extended build-up, offering a tantalising glimpse of what s to come. from then on, house chords and dub elements abound, complemented throughout by beguiling melodic lines, hypnotic vocal samples, effects and some smooth filter action. this co-production from three tech house specialists harmonises perfectly, creating a well-rounded, homogeneous track that leaves you craving for more! born in berlin but living the life in mannheim, fabe is the next insider tip on cocoon worth keeping an eye on. already shaking up clubs around the world, he s also part of the cocoon ibiza line up this year! however he s not only turning heads as a dj, his productions also work on an extremely high level featuring a unique sound signature. his cocoon recordings track -last shot for bob- creaks, growls, clatters, squeaks and knocks in all directions creating an incredibly cool and, above all, groovy sound. it s electronic noise-funk served up in the best techno and house fashion, that drags you onto the dance floor and drenches you in pleasure.

hmot aka stas sharifullin is siberian-born, moscow-based musician, curator, educator and multi-disciplinary artist from siberia. using modular synthesizer, field recordings and visual programming languages, hmot collects sounds and organizes them into structures, pushing traditional electronic music genres beyond their comfort zones. “permanent imbalance” is his ep debut on the berlin imprint oqko following a single contribution to the label’s “form_1” compilation. structurally, “permanent imbalance” is disorderly and elusive, it’s a techno record which has undergone a gregor samsaesque metamorphosis. embedded with dizzying polyrhythmics, the discontinuity at the heart of the record might also be its central directive – interrupting the ecstatic clubbing experience in favor of a contradictory reality which is impossible to describe with regular rhythms. boldly submitted to the niche of dance music deviations, “permanent imbalance” also reveals techniques directly derived from early institutional electronics and musique concrete. but where others would pile on the layers, sharifullin keeps it trim. these are just some finishing touches enhancing his rickety and multifaceted soundscapes. subject to constant deviations of its own temporality, this music proves to mirror the crisis in which modernity resides – a state of life out of balance which now appears to be permanent as never before.

next up on late night burners we have four warm cuts by roman coskun. with the -feels like forever ep- he showcases his own personal brand of wayward, but elegant deep house.
the title track is deep, but very functional, and clearly built on the underpinnings of classic deep house, while remaining fresh at the same time. then it s time for -sunwards-, blending acidic dreaminess with a lock-tight groove. on the b1, -steps- reminds us of mediterranean summers, with its warm pads and floaty steel drums, and finally, on -tales from the reef- the gifted 92 spacedrum orchestra joins in for a raw, yet delicate late-night club joint.

o celebrate two decades of skylax records and a long musical partnership, dj sprinkles and hardrock striker team up as s.h.e. a project 18 months in the making, marcel fengler presents a imf10, a three part compilation series detailing the past, present and future of his label index marcel fengler. part 2 focuses on the warmer and more soulful side of imf and features an outstanding array of artists making their debut for the label, all of which have a strong personal meaning to fengler. there’s fjaak, the exciting berlin trio he admires for their authentic identity and honest sound, a special shed remix of the enigmatic vril whose timeless productions continue to strike a chord with him, good friend eric cloutier who he has long wanted to get involved in imf and of course long-time label champion thomas hessler. viennas arthur robert a new face marcel discovered after he sent him tracks over facebook contributes a beautiful shimmering work to the compilation. highlighting this section of the project is the first azur track marcels new side project. he explains: ive always liked to be diverse with my music, but i also do’t want to confuse people. this is the reason why i decided to give my melodic side its own identity. my music under the marcel fengler name will go back to its roots and be more raw and rough in production terms. the final digital package will be complemented by a dj mix from thomas hessler comprised of tracks from imf10. stay tuned for parts 3 to follow, which includes originals and remixes by marcel fengler, sebastian kramer (aka redshape), luke slater, peter van hoesen and more.

naif 009 is the second in a series of five eps that are released around the release of the dj-mix-cd also named naif which has its release in april 2018 the second strike comes with two superstrong techno tracks: lean forward is a contribution by nihad tule that wil burn the dancefloors. followed by not now, not yet, a scratchy track from the hands of one half of cassegrain: rhyw. side b heads into trippy territories with a heady, sparse but seductive groove by marco shuttle followed by a track from efdemin in a collaboration with his close friend and fellow konrad sprenger (pan) after more then three years of silence as a producer, efdemin a.k.a phillip sollmann returns with a striking hybrid concept that merges the album format with the continuous dj mix format, presenting completely new material in a seamless manner. the cd-mix, named naïf, officially reinstates his label of the same name and is a sprawling tour of inner space featuring 19 distinct tracks from fellow producers along with an additional ten that feature efdemin himself (either as soloist or collaborator). the release condenses his decade-long dj-ing journey and evolution as a producer into a single potent elixir of contemporary techno. naif consists of completely unreleased material from both himself and valued collaborators, all of which will eventually manifest as ep releases: five on his own naif label and two more on curle.

the debut release on mule musiq by italian dj&producer toto chiavetta. i have keep on checking his releases since his release “become one” on osunlade’s yoruba records, it’s still my fav track to play. toto has been releasing eclectic house music from mighty innervisions and yoruba records in the last few years. magnus ep start from floor killer tropical tech house track “higher than a bird”,it will be instant summer anthem. on b side,“magnus”&”first day without her” is more dark techno for big room but we still can hear some musical elements.

after a lot of questions from fans when we were going to drop enzyme 060, it is finally here. we thought it was time to celebrate one of our most memorable releases with some new influences, but not forgetting about the original one. as it’s been well over a decade since its initial release and the overwhelming impact it has had on many of our loyal fans. it was time to do something special. we present you the (very!) limited picture disc edition of ophidian & ruffneck’s “so many sacrifices”, including two remixes by rapture and neox. the original track has been carefully remastered to fit today’s standards, so you can play it loud again in your sets.

dutch artist and producer ian mono presents his first release on his new label. straight up, no nonsense techno but with a slightly oblique edge that takes us over into dub and experimental territories from time to time. in oceans is a three track ep which covers echobound’s statement and ideals right from the start.

redshape stars in another deep tripping, sci-fi odyssey on his imprint for present 16. opening the gate reveals a slow but surely building burner that is classic redshape, ripping the space-time continuum fabric apart at it s spoken word climax narrating of solar winds, cosmic ray particles and the speed of light. heed the track s unmistakable call and take flight on an interplanetary elevator with parched, bone-dry percussion, twisting lines with propulsive bass and growls that rumble underneath, enveloping you in an air cabin of jedi-level sound design prowess. the ride truly begins next with voyager. it s all aboard a throbbing deep low end countered by floating, melancholic sustained chords with twinkling bleeps and fading bloops that light up like the star-studded milky way. frantic hi hats and modulated percussion work keep riders on the edge of their seat through this fantasy space-age joyride at warp speed.

deep space techno electro on trust celebrating the labels year xx. /dl/ms/ is the viennese duo behind recent frustrated funk outing, omakuda, last years trust29, rogue intent, as well as one of the most-played electro tracks of 2017 - their remix of second storeys attack of the modlings. exit ghosts takes the /dl/ms/ sound far into haunted new orbits, trading some of its earthy rumble for more ethereal emanations. stark and sombre bass signals return, but find themselves enveloped in delicately threaded string anomalies, copious amounts of melodic ectoplasm, and spirit-like liquid funk dilutions. vinyl 12inch contains three locked grooves and ships in new trust xx color sleeves.

after an excellent 12inch on rosten label sstrom drops his first full length otider, which is by far the most diverse offering of the project encompassing elements of different genres and putting them in woolen and dense sonic textures. otider could be loosely translated as un-times or non-times. it positions the tracks out of specific context and rather represents them as some rediscovered artifacts relating to personal experiences of the artist. otider slightly distances sstrom from techno label as the compositions elegantly drift between lush transparency and thick grooves of outsider/lo-fi house as in kronofobi or svvaren or sensitive, yet subtly monolith and mellow techno on damm and i huvudet. in modernisten we can even trace echoes of coldwave/synth aesthetics with melancholic guitars sweeping over hypnotic rhythmic patterns, while closer sov nu introduces something which reminds a darker form of garage music with light synthpads constantly surfacing among raw mechanical beats. all the tracks were created over a relatively long period between 2010 and 2017 by employing the process where he let his hands work automatically without interference from his head. this freedom could be felt across the release, which juggles with different musical forms so lightly and organically, but at the same time maintains a coherent vision, which illustrates the vast scope and diversity of the artist.

after releasing a brilliant and stomping three-tracker on kontra-musik white label last year, ex-durian brother harmonious thelonious returns to the kontra-musik family with an absolute gem of a record. this is everything we want dance music to be: characterful, playful and impossibly funky. harmonious thelonious is a master of crafting organic sounding rhythms but arranging them in a manner that reminds one of a 1970 s car factory. primal pulses running through modern assembly lines, gears and pistons covered in green lianas. the result is a perfect symbiosis between living tissue and mechanical parts - dance music for primitive cyborgs.

a great compilation can open the gate to another world. who knew that some of the most exciting afro-funk records of all time were actually made in the small west african country of benin? once analog africa released the first african scream contest in 2008, the proof was there for all to hear, gut-busting yelps, lethally welldrilled horn sections and irresistibly insistent rhythms added up to a record that took you into its own space with the same electrifying sureness as any favourite blues or soul or funk or punk sampler you might care to mention.
ten years on, intrepid crate-digger samy ben redjeb unveils a new treasuretrove of vodoun-inspired afrobeat heavy funk crossover greatness. right from the laceratingly raw guitar fanfare which kicks off les sympathics’ pile-driving opener, it’s clear that african scream contest ii is going to be every bit as joyous a voyage of discovery as its predecessor. and just as you’re trying to get off the canvas after this one-punch knock out, an irresistible afro-ska romp with a more than subliminal echo of the batman theme puts you right back there. ignace de souza and the melody aces’ “asaw fofor- would’ve been a killer instrumental but once you’ve factored in the improbably-rich-to-the-point-of-being-nat-king-cole-influenced lead vocal, it’s a total revelation.

there was only ever going to be one choice to launch first floor. not only is dubbyman the cover star of our debut publication of the same name, but he s also the face and sound of influential spanish label deep explorer, in-demand producer/remixer and long-time favourite with us. so the opportunity to collaborate on a special edition 7- vinyl release was one we couldn t miss. so far, featuring south african vocalist and musician ras vadah from the therapy collektive, is an extended version of the laidback, jazzy opening teaser from dubbyman s debut album deep is dead. deep explorer stalwart leo gunn, on remix duties for the first time, takes the same track and gives it a piano-driven, dance-floor focused spin. the accompanying fanzine not only includes interviews with both dubbyman and gunn, but also features articles on johannes albert, tommo & jonno, jesus gonsev, arnheim, sensible soccers and more.

lithuanian based label sodai started its journey in 2016, making it a label still in its infancy but making a big impression. owned by artist gardens of god, who started the label to create his own no limits platform for his experimental sounds and projects. while at the same time a platform to give other artists the chance to also have freedom with art and music. with releases from raxon, few nolder and alex krell under their belt, they can announce the exciting debut from uk producer third son this april. ive been an admirer of gardens of gods music for a long time, when he asked me if i could do something for his imprint, i was more than thrilled! adds joseph. syncopes synths spread far and wide, making this a journey of a track, modulating and panning in and out, pushing and pulling along a percussive drive. his broad musical range can be felt in this mix, with its slightly hypnotic tones. irony has a punctuated low end, which creates a deep and dark groove. the synthetic elements in this track gain in attitude, on top of ambient pads, leading nicely into bach to close out the release. its driving and determined bass makes the backbone of the track, with a modulating hook line, along building and expanding frequency ranges. the whole package makes for a very strong first release from third son, and sodai are excited to be welcoming him to the family.

it was vladimir ivkovic who introduced me to the world of rex ilusivii. a world where the spirit of a genius holds sway. i remember spending an entire night at vladimir s house in germany, listening to all those recovered pieces, and feeling like i had entered another space-time. mitar tragically left us, one november night in 1999 in brazil, leaving behind an extensive body of work consisting of more than 500 pieces, for the most part never released. being submerged in such a unique universe, so singular, brought me happiness. it also filled me with hope, because i tell myself that today there must be many other outstanding musicians who produce in the shadow of the traditional circuit, just for the pleasure of making music. listening to the music of mitar suboti&#263,, makes you part of his world. he did not stop producing from 1983 to 1999, in different styles, but with an instantly recognizable touch.his music also marries the evolution of recording techniques with new instruments that have appeared over this time, from the tr808 to the digital samplers. it took me more than two years to select the music for this record, as each time i listened to the material it revealed other details and other possibilities. i am extremely happy and honored to present this record to you, in which i try to do justice to the different, versatile- facets of suba.

(eaten alive!) is still banned in most countries but received on youtube unbelievable 815 000 hits. certainly also because of it’s amazing score which was produced and written by italian composer roberto donati and maria fiamma maglione.

orient meets occident. collector edition of jaime zenamon’s debut album from 1984 available now! zenamon studied guitar and composition in israel, spain, portugal and in various south american countries. he a was student of abel carlevaro and worked as teacher at the berlin music university (hdk) from 1980 until 1992. the album was recorded at christopher franke’s (tangerine dream) studio and features udo hanten from the cult krautrock project you. similar sound compared to cluster, neu!, kraftwerk but with stronger esoteric world music influences. nandu muley playing the santoor, a 100 string music instrument which was already used by assyrian musicians for the production of their hits some thousand years ago :) originally released on polydor in 1984 the album get’s re-released for the first time by private records in 2015. remastered from the original master tapes at 24 bit. really rare recordings, especially the 12“ is one of the most valuable and sought after german electronic records of the 1980’s.

field of dreams are field theorys chris kentish and dj al mackenzie. field theory have recently had tracks on respected labels such as futureboogie and secret life gaining rave reviews and even garnering plays on bbc radio 6 music. al has been a dj since the late 80s, now resident at birminghams great outdoors. he s made numerous records over the years but will probably be remembered primarily for his 90s band d:ream making number one all over the world and remixing for emf and duran duran amongst others. bumping into each other in the street one dayand realising they lived opposite each other, they seized upon the chance to combine their favourite passions, making music and drinking.

after putting out kito jempere s well received sea monsters album last year, hell yeah now serve up another selection of remixes of it. accomplished musician jimi tenor, plus miskotom and max essa all contribute before a 7inch, also taken from the album, lands later in summer. first up is jimi tenor, the legndary finnish musician who has released on warp, collaborated with tony allen and has his own band as well as occasionally playing sax with kito jempere band at live gigs. he flips puzzled into five minutes of stripped back and moody electronics with plenty of his own flute playing in the track. busted drum sounds, spooky sci-fi synths and scattered hits make it woozy and late night and utterly absorbing. miskotom—a newly emerging pair made up of mik and his wife andra, both based in vilnius, lithuania with credits on pleasure unit and balearic —then reimagine ampa as a beatdown but of deep house with trudging drums staying low and shimmering synths drift out in all directions. crunchy hits bring a subtle sense of funk and reverb drenched vocals bring a heavenly feel to the soul drenched grooves and summery keys. then comes max essa, the japan based brit who is a regular on this label as well as the likes of is it balearic?. his first remix is a huge one that is sure to soundtrack many a boat party this summer. it s a gorgeous rework of ampa that puts achingly blissful vocals front and centre as low slung bass and slowly turning drums sink you into a pan-pipe laced reverie. secondly, essa offers a dub reprise that removes the vocals and places all the focus on his churning drums and new age grooves. this is another perfect package of masterfully electronic horizontal sounds.

constantin xenakis work possesses exactly what i really love about intelligent electronic music. its stylishly repetitive, coded, mechanical but, at the same time, very organic and playful. this is how argyris theofilis, also known as zodiac free arts club, explains his fascination with european artist constantin xenakis. born in cairo, xenakis work often includes written script, in particular symbols andcodes of everyday life, traffic signs, alchemy, the zodiac, mathematical and chemical symbols, egyptian hieroglyphics as well as letters from the greek, phoenician, hebrew and arabic alphabets.a balance between human and inhuman that makes his art somehow mystical. after becoming fixated by xenakis, the greek music producer searched and eventually met him for the first time in 2012. after several meetings in paris and athens, they both decided to present structures + codes, a concept album conceived as an homage to the painters vision. each one of the eight songs in the album corresponds to a painting by xenakis, translating its intricate shapes and patterns into spirit-lifting compositions filled with elliptic arpeggios, repetitive drum machines and esoteric melodies in proper kosmische manner. but this is not a mere exercise in style. as xenakis paintings, its music that transcends its own codes to become an esoteric experience. this record should be heard comfortably.

the new ep by german duo grandbrothers is a collection of remixes and re-interpretations of their standout track bloodflow. the remix by uk producer lone was introduced last autumn but theres brand new tracks to be found here by german techno electronic vanguard christian löffler, everyones favourite new idm producer brainwaltzera and new permanent vacation signing aera grandbrothers are the sum of unique parts: progressive swiss engineer/mechanic/sofware designer lukas vogel and german-turkish pianist erol sarp. their second album open twins sarps piano skills with vogel’s talent for both building the homemade intricate mechanics with which he exploits his partners instrument and also designing its software. sarp works at his ivory keyboard while, from behind his own computer keys, vogel live-samples his partners notes, triggering further effects with the aid of diy electronic apparatus that physically manipulate the pianos strings and body.

weapons of mass destruction was one of the last eps by nur jaber , which is best known in berlin for its residence at the techno-matinee staub . this could be heard slammender, dry techno with sometimes disturbing vocals – hope sounds different. more precisely: hope sounds like the first longplayer of the native lebanese. if only – a state of peace still carries a conditional in the title, but the music on the nine tracks speak very directly of a better world. inspired by the herbaceous-cosmic sound of the berlin school, ambient and ambient techno in all its facets and the friendlier side of the artificial intelligence tradition, the osf unites-mit operator on their debut album a variety of styles, which are translated into an equally sensible as multi-layered narrative. peace, that would be something for a change.

for phonicas landmark 20th release on the main label we go back to a classic from the same year the shop opened stereofuses casino ep, originally released on berlin label salo in 2003. the casino ep marked the first collaboration between martin wörner & thorsten diegel as stereofuse. they followed it up with a string of other 12inches for other labels but its this initial 12inch that has been fetching high prices second-hand as one of the most sought after releases on salo and for very good reason. a timeless ep sitting somewhere between house and techno (before tech-house became a disputed tag-line!) with the likes of ricardo villalobos & craig richards playing it regularly in their sets.

losouls another picture label follows on from eps in 2017 by honesty and the label boss himself with a new two tracker by japanese artist sasaki hiroaki. the yotsume label owner is based in tokyo and his sleek sounds take cues from 80s new wave and look for a soulful vibe in electronic music. 2018 has already seen him release on open recordings and now he offers up some warm house rollers for another picture. ‘eo1 is eight minutes of rubbery drums and loose, scattered percussion, tumbling toms and clicks. dreamy chords light up the background and the whole thing drives ever deeper into the night, always evolving as it goes. on the flip, ‘plain song is just as heartfelt, but icy hi hats and metal stabs are more upright, getting you on your toes and keeping you there for another eight minutes of organic, authentic deep house bliss.

cosmic bridge continues its dedication to new talent with -the gift-, a four-track ep from oliver yorke. since his first release in 2012, yorke s output has been minimal but that hasn t stopped the music from catching the ears of label boss om unit. on the gift, yorke pulls from travels and visual experiences to deliver a strikingly detailed blend of classic drum & bass and autonomic vibes that deftly balances mood and energy.

after the first ep, that you must have heard in clubs across the world - laconica is back with its second. as with the first one, this release is all about the three solid cuts, which are made especially for the dancefloors. the first track “who gave you dis” is a deep groove in tandem with whispering vocals and powerful drums. “this for b” is a perfect minimalistic tool for after-hour sets. last but not least, “lil souvenir” (b2) is revolving around the chicago house feeling with some classic vocals in it.
